How to Take Better Newborn Pictures?

I am an aspiring photographer and am reaching out for advice from more experienced photographers. I have a newborn session coming up and would like some tips on posing and lighting. As of right now I only have a camera with a flash head and a diffuser. If you have any suggestions for props or ideas let me know. Any advice/tips will be great. Thank you :)
