DIY Co2 on/off at night?

ok i have an amazon sword in a 1 gallon water pitcher that i dirted. it has 10wpg and i just hooked up DIY co2. since there are no fish i dont worry about too much co2. Should i take out the diffuser from the pitcher at night, or will my sword be ok if i leave the co2 running all night without lights?
