Will reed diffuser room fresheners harm my birds?

Small animals, especially birds, are prone to respiratory problems. It's a somewhat known problem that cooking with Teflon pans can even have a bad effect on birds. I would avoid using any "iffy" products in the same room as the birds just to be safe, why risk it--right? Especially oils, which are the reason you can't use citrus around them. Regular old potpourri should be fine though. And always go to the source of the smell instead of covering it. People would rather be in a clean home than one smelling of dog pee & flowery Febreze!
