How to clean turtle poop from tank?

Hey, I keep an oranda goldfish and have recently gotten a yellow bellied slider. I just use her siphon for him, however it isn't powerful enough to pick up his poop and discarded food. I use a 1" diameter siphon. Is the solution to get a bigger siphon? Manually remove the poop? Help please.
