In case future employer drops health insurance (Obama care)..should I negotiate salary increase to offset?
I am interviewing for a new company in Florida. I saw on the news that as many as 30% of employers plan to drop group health insurance when the Health Reform Act kicks in. Naturally, this is an expense I don't want to incur without some sort of mitigation in place. Should I negotiate this at the "offer" stage - that should they drop group medical insurance in the future, they are required to increase my salary by X%? I know it sounds ridiculous now, but next year and beyond – this request might be commonplace.
